My friend and I decided to do the free walking tour in Kathmandu with Shiva after finding the info online. We only had one full day to explore Kathmandu and wanted to visit and learn about as many places as possible.
We met up at 11am and were happy to find him there waiting for us a few minutes early. After a few introductions and planning out the day we headed out. What we liked right away is that he gave us the option on how long we wanted to make the tour and options on whether to walk back or take a bus after the last stop on the tour, very flexible. We were a group of 3 so we decided to do the full 3-4 hour tour.
We stopped at various temples in which he would explain the significance, what type of local people would visit the specific temples, etc. We were able to walk through the local markets and back streets to really experience the people of Nepal, their culture and way of life. After about 2 hours we were all hungry so we stopped at a local little restaurant to grab a bite to eat, relax and ask some questions. Our last stop on the tour was "Monkey a temple," here once again he gave us the option on how we wanted to reach the top (steep 365 steps or go gradually up a different route.)
Shiva is very knowledable, fun, friendly and loves when questions are asked. Great, great tour in which we were able to learn a great deal of information in a short amount of time.

With Himkala Adventure I did a free walking tour of Kathmandu, a trek to Ghorepani and Poon Hill, and finally a trek the Langtang region. The walking tour was an awesome way to see the city of Kathmandu; all of its religion and culture, chaos and charm, in a gentle stroll. The Poon Hill trek was not so much a gentle stroll, it was an adventurous journey with incredible views of the mountains.
The Langtang trek, above all, was most definitely the most amazing experience of my travels in Nepal. The scenery, with the snow capped mountains, lush forests, frozen lakes and huge glaciers, was breath-taking. Within only three days of walking we came to Kyanjin Ri, a summit of 4800 meters and a great vantage point of the all that the region has to offer. The culture was equally incredible - the region is known for being highly influenced by Tibetan heritage, and this we found to be evident in the picturesque architectural style of the villages, the delicious food and the super friendly people.
I’m very glad I shared each of these adventures with Himkala adventure, Shiva was a great guide; knowledgeable, friendly, and flexible with where we would go and at what pace. Thank you so much Shiva! Never will a day pass that I do not look back on my time in Nepal with a smile.

I had always in my mind to go to Nepal and do some of the trekking. With Himkala Adventure, I did Ghorepani Poonhill Trekking and I lived my dream! I just had to buy my plane ticket and the rest of things were organized by the company: the transportation, the food, the itinerary, the accommodation during the trekking… and it was an amazing experience.

I have traveled to Nepal several times, and, each time, Himkala Adventure was by my side! Shiva is amazingly knowledgeable about his home country. I dont believe there was ever a question that I asked for which he didnt have the answer! I traveled both alone and with friends, and every trip was better than the last !
